Who made your clothes?
Do you ever think about who made your clothing? Or know where it was made?
As a brand we stand for female empowerment. Empowerment is more than just a word, it’s at the heart of everything we do, and we strongly believe that you can’t empower women in one country by exploiting them in another.
We don’t outsource our manufacturing. It all takes place in our studio which is based in an old textile mill in Leeds (north of England) by our talented team of machinists. There is no production line, each beautiful piece of our luxury lingerie is handcrafted individually from start to finish.
Our beautiful, high quality lingerie is designed and made to last. Each special piece is made to order, so we only make what is needed. This doesn’t mean you’ll be waiting weeks for your order, it just means we’ve streamlined our production to make it efficient with the least amount of waste possible.
All our high end lingerie pieces are carefully hand cut in-house too. This means that there is minimal waste in terms of the materials we use, as we have total control. All the patterns are tessellated in a way that means we do not use excess material or create unnecessary waste.
The small amount of material scraps we do generate, is donated every few months to the textile department at the local high school for their textile projects, so none of it ends up in land fills.
Our signature leather comes from a UK company that only sells skins that are ethically sourced. We use Japanese plonge leather that is a by-product of the meat industry and the animals are not bred for their skins.
We support local suppliers wherever possible. Our stunning leather accessories are handcrafted in the UK by a talented female saddler. Our natural wax leather polish is handmade by an award winning beekeeper from London and is made with 100% natural ingredients. Even our luxury gift boxes are sources from an ethical UK packaging company.
We hope this gives you an insight into the story behind each special piece of Something Wicked lingerie. Luxury lingerie, ethically made, designed to last.
