Inside the Wicked Wardrobe – Leather Bras
Lingerie shouldn’t just be saved for the bedroom. While your initial intention when purchasing lingerie may be to save it for your most intimate moments when seducing a partner, or yourself, we believe that when you wear Something Wicked, it should be worn to be seen. Finding ways to wear your lingerie beyond the bedroom maximises your wear-per-item, and minimises your cost-per-wear. What is cost-per-wear? We fully support the notion of buying less, but buying better. By purchasing slightly-more-expensive-but-better-made products, you’re guaranteed to get more wear from your wardrobe, as your purchases were designed to stand the test of time, rather than worn once and moved along. If you want to learn more about cost-per-wear, and why investing in quality pieces is more cost-effective in the long-run, our good friends at Make It British have an eye-opening piece you can read here.
Our decadent designs are versatile enough to be admired as luxury pieces of lingerie, or worked into your carefully curated ensembles, as you dress to impress. This peek inside our Wicked Wardrobe is going to show you a handful of our favourite ways to style some of our most popular bras. Dressing your lingerie up and exposing it into your outfits is not a new trend, and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon. Seen in celebrity street-style (such as Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid and Kim Kardashian West) and worn on the runways of luxury brands (such as Mugler, Dion Lee, Givenchy, Gucci, Tom Ford and Loewe), lingerie inspired looks can strike a balance between controversial and conservative, edgy and elegant, all in the way in which you wear them. Here are four ways to style our luxury leather bras beyond the bedroom…
Styling bike shorts and blazers is an updated approach to mixing athleisure with executive fashion. After a year of living in loungewear, many of us will find the transition back to ‘hard pants’ extremely difficult. This style strikes a happy balance between the two.
Wearing our Mia Soft Cup bra as a bralette under a blazer, the structured jacket elevates the ensemble. An edgy look for dinner or drinks, complete the look with heeled mules, a small bag that fits the essentials, slick hair and simple accessories and understated makeup.
For when the dress code is “jeans and a nice top”. The longline design of our Mia Balcony bra makes it a perfect piece to be worn as a bralette. Worn with high-waisted jeans and black heeled boots, this outfit serves effortless style, with pieces almost everyone has in their wardrobe.
Wear a leather jacket over your shoulders to keep the chill at bay, and add a pop of colour with a statement bag to the otherwise monochromatic palette. Coordinate your jewellery with the metal finishing in your outfit, and add a smouldering smokey eye if worn at night-time, to amp up the level of seduction.
If braving just the bra feels a little too exposed, layer it under a sheer top. Playing with opacity reveals a little, without exposing all; allowing you to still feel fully dressed, with an acknowledging wink to your wicked side. Our Montana Balcony Bra is a great staple bra, understated in design but enchanting in aesthetics; made of our signature Japanese plonge leather and with a subtle but sexy keyhole cut-out.
With relaxed black pants, heeled booties and feline sunglasses, this look plays with the boundaries between masculine and feminine style. We’ve completed the look with a red lip, but it would look equally incredible with natural makeup. Layer with a long-line coat if heading out and about to add extra depth and dimension to the look.
The shirtless blazer trend for women has been a favourite for years, but if you don’t want to go entirely sans-security for your chest, find a complimenting bra to complete the look. We’ve paired our Ava Leather Half Cup bra with matching wide-leg leather trousers and a relaxed leather blazer.
Think Harry Styles at the 2021 Grammys. For a more relaxed, street-style influenced look, we’ve styled this with Air Jordan’s, but to transition from day-to-night, slip on a strappy heel or a pointed black boot to elevate the look further. Quirky accessories come in the shape of a saddle bag and fine shades, complete with a chunky gold chain, but the simplicity of the all-black-leather ensemble allows you the freedom to accessories as you wish.
Just a small selection of the countless ways to style your lingerie into your wardrobe. With restaurants and bars opening back up and events on the cards, are you thinking of your outfits to emerge back onto the social scene?
