At Something Wicked we believe great lingerie starts with a strong foundation of materials and craftmanship. That’s why we are proud to say we work with local and UK based suppliers where possible, across the development and manufacturing of not only our exquisite luxury leather lingerie, but our high quality leather bondage accessories too. By partnering with these skilled artisans and small independent businesses, we not only create beautifully exquisite items of designer leather lingerie, but we contribute to the growth of our local economy.
In this blog post, we’re excited to take you behind the scenes and share the stories of some of our most talented local suppliers that help us bring our designs to life, from local leather workers to custom made leather polish. Let’s dive into the stories of the makers, creators, and innovators who help us craft the perfect lingerie and bondage accessories.
Let’s start with our most iconic fabric that makes us Something Wicked, our signature leather. It is ethically sourced from a UK supplier called GH leather established in 1998 following the closure of one of the largest lambskin tanneries. They ensure all skins are sustainably obtained. We use Japanese plonge leather from Wagyu, a by-product of the meat industry. The animals are not specifically raised for their skins, aligning with a more ethical approach to leather production.
We hand make each item with time and quality in mind because cheap and cheerful just won’t do in our eyes, we believe in buying quality over quantity.
Even though lace is not part of our usual line up, we offer a few exclusive pieces of outstanding lace attire, these are made from French Chantilly lace sourced from a French heritage brand established in 1876. Solstiss is a family owned and run lace manufacturer offering a unique craftmanship that has been passed down through generations of family. Solstiss lace creation is done 100% in house and their dedication to quality and detail aligns perfectly with our vision and brand ethics. Solstiss has global representation in the big designer powerhouses of the world from Chanel to Louis Vuitton to many, many more making them a key part of our kinky lingerie repertoire of suppliers.
As well as the iconic leather that Something Wicked is known for, we also use a carefully selected range of fabrics that are the foundation of our beautiful lingerie, chosen for their luxurious textures, durability, and ability to mould to your body for the perfect fit. We source all the added extras from UK based Contour Specialist Fabrics a small family run business that specialises in lingerie and swimwear fabrics, trimmings and components.
Our suppliers don’t end there for our kinky leather lingerie, once our items are made, we wanted to guarantee our items will last you a lifetime. This led us on to develop a completely natural leather polish to help you keep your collection of Something Wicked lingerie looking and feeling as good as it did the day you opened your parcel and first wore your beloved garments. We work closely with an award-winning beekeeper in London who creates a unique formula exclusively for us, made of beeswax, Vitamin E, and natural oils like olive and eucalyptus. It helps restore the shine and keeps your leather undergarments looking pristine and ensures your beautiful new sexy lingerie outfits last a lifetime.
Our delectable BDSM inspired leather accessories are hand crafted in the Yorkshire Pennines by a leather artisan and craftsman Jason from Diamond AWL. Developing his craft over the past decade, Jason is an extended member of the team who helps us to bring your fantasies to life, with accessories that combine both style and strength. Along with the leather to create our unique bondage designs, we source the metal components from a prestigious saddlery based company Abbey England who have a coveted royal warrant. The company was founded in 1982 and is still to this day a family owned and run business that currently includes three generations of their family.
The final detailing of our kinky leather accessories are then finished in the studio with gleaming gold metal work that includes our 24K gold plated chain from one of the last remaining chain manufacturers in the UK; Bluebird chain and findings Limited. They specialise in manufacturing jewellery findings and fixings in a wide range of metals.
