So how does embossing work? While all our luxury leather accessories are expertly crafted by a talented female saddler in St Albans, our embossing finishes are done in-house in our Leeds based mill – where all our luxury lingerie is designed, cut and handmade by our skilled team of seamstresses.
A dedicated machine, able to print any combination of letters, heats up to around 140°C, while we prepare your accessories to be printed. A hawk eye and a steady hand are fundamental when embossing, as you only get one opportunity to print to perfection; making these distinct, divine works-of-art even more special.
If minimalist is more your style, a ‘blind emboss’ can be done; this is a press minus the metallic foils, leaving a subtle, but beautiful, imprint on the leather. (Just drop us an email if this is something you’d prefer!) For foil embossing, we then layer the beautiful metallic foil over the leather, and line them up in the press. Precise positioning is principal in the process, ensuring your personalisation is perfectly central. When ready, a slow-but-steady pull on the lever presses the desired characters and the leather together, while the heat and pressure applied bonds the foil onto the imprint.
A few seconds later, with a breath-holding strip back of the foil, your ornate – and now personalised – accessories are finished and almost ready to make their way to you!
